Terms and conditions

How a job comes about, how time is charged for emergency work, and what applies when something goes wrong.

What these terms cover

Every visit and every job that comes about through this site. Anything agreed differently applies only if it was agreed explicitly.

How a job comes about

A job exists from the moment you agree to the visit, by phone or at the door. For emergency work no written quotation is produced beforehand: that would delay the visit, which is exactly what you do not want at that moment. Instead the rates are published on this site in advance, and at the door you hear what appears to be needed and roughly what it costs.

Rates and overrun

Call-out € 45 per visit, hourly rate € 65 to € 85, surcharge € 25 before 08:00, after 18:00 and on Sundays. All amounts include Dutch VAT (btw). The first hour is charged whole, after that per 15 minutes.

If it turns out during the work that more is needed, you are told at that moment, with an amount. Above € 400 nothing continues without your agreement.

What is not included

Work on gas pipework beyond the meter that requires a separate Dutch certification, work on the refrigerant circuit of a heat pump, and work on installations that cannot be reached safely. Building work after a repair, such as tiling, plastering or closing up a chase, also falls outside the job unless it was agreed separately.

Guarantee

Repair work carries three months of guarantee: if the same fault returns in the same place, we come without a call-out charge. Parts supplied carry the manufacturer's guarantee.

The guarantee does not cover a new blockage somewhere else, damage from freezing or from work by others, or a pipe that was reported to you at the first visit as needing full replacement.

Cancelling

Cancel before we have set off and it costs nothing. If the engineer is already on the way or at your door, the call-out charge applies.

Payment

By payment request or by invoice within fourteen days. Cash is not requested and nothing is ever paid up front for work that has not been done.

Liability

We are liable for damage that is the direct result of a fault in the work carried out, up to the amount of the invoice for that job. Damage that existed before we arrived, and consequential loss such as lost income, fall outside that. Report damage within fourteen days of noticing it, while something can still be done about it.

Complaints

Report a complaint within fourteen days of the visit, at info@uithoorn-loodgieter.nl or by phone. You get a substantive reply within five working days.

Which version applies

This page is an English reading version. Dutch law governs these terms and the Dutch text is the binding one; a translated clause is not a second clause. If the two ever differ, the Dutch version decides.

Rather not call?

Leave your number and you get a call back. That is fine for work that can wait; with water on the floor, calling is faster.

Request

No emergency? Leave your number

For work that can wait. With water on the floor or no heating at all, calling is faster, because this form is not read continuously.

Is it urgent?

Then call. The phone is answered from 07:00 to 22:00, every day, and you hear straight away when somebody can be there.
